With proven form over a mile, the progressive Passion looks decent value at 7/1 in the Group 2 May Hill Stakes at Doncaster today (3.45).

This Aidan O’Brien trained daughter of Galileo caught the eyer in no uncertain fashion on debut when a 5 3/4 length fifth of 10 to Yaxeni at Cork.

Passion ran very green for most of the 1m contest, but when the penny finally did drop stayed on nicely under a hands and heels ride to be nearest at the finish.

It was a very tender introdcution and she duly showed the benefit of that experience when opening her account in 12-runner maidnen over 1m at the same venue 11 days ago.

After breaking well, Passion raced in the leading trio and after ridden to take second a furlong and a half from home was switched to take up the running a furlong out.

She then forged clear Seamie Heffernan to win going away by 2 1/4 lengths from Unknown Pleasures who had previously finished in front of her when runner-up at Cork.

It was a big step forward by Passion and she is an exciting prospect who holds an entry in next month’s Group 1 Fillies’ Mile at Newmarket.

Ryan Moore also now partners her for the first time, and unlike the three in front of her in the betting – who are all stepping up to 1m for teh first time – there are no stamina concerns with Passion.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Passion (8/1 Grosvenor Sport, 7/1 BetVictor, Betfair, Paddy Power – BOG)
