Given that he runs Kempton well and has become well-treated, Gavlar looks decent each-way value at 20/1 in the 7.10 there today.

This William Knight trained has won three times and been placed on six occasions from 18 starts over course and distance.

In the last of those successes in August of last year he scored by 1/2 a length off a mark of 79.

Gavlar also ran well over Cd four starts back when a 3/4 length third of 13 to Encryption off 75 and is now able to race off 70.

That is his lowest rating in over five years and makes him a player in this from a handicapping perpsective on the pick of his form.

He also has a 23 per cent strike rate in the grade (class 4) and Callim Shepherd gets a good tune out of him.

So taking everything into account, I think Gavlar has more going for him than his odds would suggest.
