Green Jacket In 2020 Just 9/1 For $15m Man

Rory McIlroy is now being backed to get back onto the major winners’ roster following his strong finish to the season which was crowned with a victory at the Tour Championship.

The Holywood man disappointed with a missed the cut at The Open championship at Portrush in July but bounced back in style at the end of the season with three top 10 finishes in four appearances, capped off by his win at East Lake which bagged him the $15m purse for finishing top of the FedEx standings.

Now BoyleSports have trimmed his major prospects for 2020, with the chances of him walking off with exactly one of the four big ones cut from 5/2 into 7/4. He is 11/1 from 16/1 to win two majors next year, a feat he last achieved when winning The Open and USPGA Championships in 2014.

He is 9/1 from 10/1 to win the one remaining major missing from CV, with 8/1 Brooks Koepka the narrow favourite to don the Green Jacket following next year’s Masters at Augusta. An unprecedented clean sweep is a massive 500/1 shot but it’s just 12/1 that McIlroy completes a hat-trick by winning the FedEx Cup for the third time in 2020.

Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “Rory looks to be back in the zone and surely the next thing on his list has to be another major. It’ll be six years since his last major victory when the next one comes around, but punters are backing him more confidently now he looks to have the bit between his teeth.”
